IPL 2025 is the season finally over, and after 18 seasons of waiting, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have finally won the title. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium hosted the final clash in which RCB won the encounter by six runs. Batting first, RCB scored 190 on the board thanks to 43 off 35 balls from Kohli and the rest of the batting, which contributed well. Jitesh Sharma’s 10-ball 24 helped his side reach a respectable total on the board. 

In reply, PBKS began well, scoring 43 runs in the first five overs as Priyansh Arya was out for 24. Prabhsimran Singh (26) and Josh Inglis’ 39 then saw PBKS race to 72 in the ninth over. However, they started losing wickets at regular intervals. Shashank Singh tried his best with the bat as he scored 61 not out from 30 balls with their boundaries and six huge hits, but couldn’t take his team home to a win.

3. Bowlers standing up when needed

Josh Hazlewood was the X factor in the RCB squad, taking 22 wickets for the season. The veteran pacer was sorely missed when he headed back home due to injury. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal too did well, especially the left-arm seamer showing his talents with the ball in the home game against CSK. Bhuvneshwar and Krunal Pandya picked 17 wickets each for their side, which proved to be crucial. Krunal bowled well in the finals to take 2/17 from four of his stipulated quota of overs. 

2. Overall batting strength 

Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli ended the 18th season of the IPL scoring 657 runs in 15 innings at an impressive average of 54 and a strike-rate of 144. Star English batter Phil Salt did well with the bat as the opener and gave his team many flying starts during the course of the season. Before getting injured, even Devdutt Padikkal played a key role with the bat while batting at three, while Mayank Agarwal batted well in the chances he got as a replacement player. Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma made some crucial contributions with the bat in the middle and death overs. 

1. Andy Flower and Dinesh Karthik’s partnership

One of the biggest concerns was the lack of man-management in RCB over the last few years. Former Zimbabwe batter Andy Flower’s appointment as the coach and Dinesh Karthik in the backroom staff have turned out to be a huge master stroke. Karthik was pivotal during the IPL Auctions as well as during the seasons, playing the role of a bridge between the team management and the players. Flower, who has years of coaching experience, was spot on with his planning during the season.
