IPL 2025: 3 changes KKR should make ahead of their game against PBKS

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders have seen their tournament disintegrate after their 39-run loss to Gujarat Titans in the last game. It was the Titans who batted first and scored 198 on the board, and KKR replied with just 159 runs. This loss has put huge pressure on KKR to win all of their matches to keep their hopes of making it to the playoffs alive. 

Many players will be under the scanner as far as form is concerned as IPL 2025 enters its business end of the season. It is a key moment in the season for KKR, who have to play well to keep their chances alive. Their next game against Punjab will not be considered, as KKR had failed to chase down 112 runs in their previous encounter.

3- Mayank Markande for Ramandeep Singh 

Ramandeep Singh hasn’t had a great IPL 2025 season so far with the bat and has hardly been used as a bowler. Rahane could look to bring in Markande as a spin option to support Narine and Chakravarthy. The 26-year-old has a lot of experience playing in the IPL, and if given a chance, Markande could turn out to be a match-winner for his side against PBKS. 

2- Rahane to open the batting 

Sunil Narine hasn’t been at his consistent best with the bat so far this campaign. Skipper Rahane could take the mantle and open the batting for the rest of the campaign. The veteran batter has a good record as an opener and can play attacking shots when the ball is new. Gurbaz and Rahane could do a good job with the bat and put pressure on the opposition.  

1- Return of Manish Pandey in the XI

Veteran batter Manish Pandey could give the much-needed experience with the bat in the middle order for KKR. One of the key issues for KKR has been their lack of runs from the bats of Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Venkatesh Iyer. The addition of Pandey to the side will not only boost KKR but also lend the much-needed depth in the final few games of the season.
