Champions Trophy 2025: Predicting Bangladesh’s Playing XI for their clash against Pakistan

The ‘eliminated’ Bangladesh will play the hosts and defending champions Pakistan in the ninth fixture of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The game will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Thursday, February 27, at 2:30 PM (IST). It will be a ‘battle of prestige’ for both teams as they are coming off two consecutive defeats in their respective first two games.

Bangladesh are coming off a 5-wicket defeat against Group A’s table toppers New Zealand following a 6-wicket defeat against India in their campaign opener. So, they will put their everything on the line to win this game against their Asian rivals Pakistan.

Predicted playing XI of Bangladesh for their next clash against Pakistan:

Openers –

Tanzid Hasan

The opening pair of Bangladesh will look the same, including Tanzid Hasan and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto. The duo provided a good opening stand of 45 runs in 8.2 overs during the last game against New Zealand. Skipper Shanto played a crucial knock of 77 runs off 110 balls, with nine fours.

However, Tanzid Hasan couldn’t convert his good start into a big knock and was dismissed at the individual score of 24 runs off 24 balls, with a six and two fours. The opening pair of Tanzid and Shanto will look ahead to provide a steady and strong start to Bangladesh in the next game against Pakistan.

Middle-Order –

Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Mehidy Hasan Miraz might bat at number three for Bangladesh; he can play a crucial anchor role for his side after a good opening start, which will help Bangladesh post a big total on the board. He will be followed by the in-form batter Towhid Hridoy at number four, who scored a century against India in the first game for Bangladesh.

Following Towhid, the former skipper and the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim will be there to bat at number five. He is also in search of his batting form; so, Rahim’s experience might play a big role in Bangladesh’s total. Later in the lower middle order, Jaker Ali will bat number six, who has played the impactful knocks of 68 and 45 runs, respectively in the first two games.

All-Rounder –

Mahmudullah

The Bangladesh management will look ahead to field the veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah as a specialist all-rounder in the playing XI. He might play a crucial role both with the bat and ball. Besides that, he also has good experience in both batting and bowling at the sub-continent pitches.

So, he could be the first choice to pick in the playing XI as a specialist all-rounder for the next Champions Trophy 2025 game against Pakistan.

Bowlers –

Taskin Ahmed

The bowling attack of Bangladesh might look the same as what they fielded in the last game against New Zealand. It will include the three pacers, including Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, and the veteran pacer Mustafizur Rahman. The pace tiro will be accompanied by the specialist leg spinner Rishad Hossain.

Taskin Ahmed bowled a brilliant spell in the last game, conceding only 28 runs in his 7 overs and scalping a wicket. Besides him, Nahid Rana also claimed a wicket at just 43 runs in his 9 overs. Mustafizur Rahman also bowled an economical spell, conceding 42 runs in 10 overs and scalping a wicket. Rishad Hossain might also play a vital role with his leg-spin to trouble the Pakistan batters.
