Asia Cup 2025: 3 Pakistan players to watch out for

The Asia Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 9 and will take place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament will conclude with the final on September 28 in Dubai.

A total of eight teams will compete in the event, divided into two groups. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B features Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.

Pakistan are entering the tournament with a new-look team under Salman Ali Agha. They will face Oman on September 12, India on September 14, and the UAE on September 17 in Group A.

1. Saim Ayub

The 23-year-old left-handed Saim Ayub has impressed one and all with his ability to take on the opposition attack from the get-go. He has 799 runs at a strike rate of 137.99 in 40 T20Is with four fifties. Ayub can also bowl brilliant off-spin and has eight wickets to his name.

He will be tasked with maximizing the powerplay overs with the new ball before the spinners come on. He has brilliant shots on both the off side and the leg side, with his trademark no-look flick for six being the main attraction.

2. Fakhar Zaman

The most experienced batter in the Pakistani lineup, Fakhar Zaman, has played 101 T20Is, scoring 2077 runs at a strike rate of 132.71 with 12 fifties to his name.

Fakhar has recovered from all injury issues that plagued him in recent times and has made sure Pakistan are not left hanging for experience in the top-middle order. UAE has been a happy hunting ground for him, with the batter having scored 410 runs in 22 gamesl.

3. Haris Rauf

Haris Rauf will lead the Pakistani pace attack with Shaheen Afridi in the Asia Cup 2025. Rauf has an impressive T20I career with 124 wickets in 89 games at an economy of 8.34. Rauf is known for his express pace and ability to surprise the batter with changes of pace as well.

He has certainly one of the bowlers to look out for in the Asia Cup 2025. Rauf also has good success in the UAE with 20 wickets at an economy of 7.82 in 14 games.
