3 batters to watch out for in England vs Sri Lanka 3rd Test

The last Test match of the three-match series between England and Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin at the Oval on Friday morning, with England hoping to achieve a clean sweep of Sri Lanka. With their victory over the Lions at Lord’s earlier this week, the hosts can post their first flawless Test summer in 20 years.

The third Test match between England and Sri Lanka is set to begin on September 6. England have won two test matches in the series and aim to win the third Test match to whitewash Sri Lanka. Current captain Ollie Pope will be the youngest captain to whitewash Sri Lanka if England wins the third Test. England are currently leading the series by 2-0. Meanwhile, we have seen some good batting performances in the series. Hence on that note, we look at 3 batters to watch out for in the England vs Sri Lanka 3rd Test.

Former England captain Joe Root showed why he is the best batter in Test cricket. During the second test match against Sri Lanka at Lords, Root scored twin hundreds which took him closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the most runs in Test cricket. During the same test match, Joe Root broke another record of former England captain and opener Alastair Cook. Currently, Joe Root has 34 Test-match centuries for England.

2. Kamindu Mendis

On the fourth day of the first Test match between England and Bangladesh at Manchester’s Old Trafford Stadium, Kamindu Mendis struck a brilliant century. Mendis has had a fantastic start to his Sri Lankan career and seems to be a promising addition to the national squad. In just four Test matches, this was his third century for Sri Lanka.

3. Ollie Pope
