In the 1996-1997 Singer-Akai Cup 6th match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Mushtaq Ahmed delivered a stellar bowling performance. After Pakistan managed 151/9 in 50 overs, Mushtaq’s exceptional leg-spin decimated the Zimbabwean batting lineup. 

He bowled a ten-over spell, claiming 4 wickets for just 27 runs, with an impressive economy rate of 2.70. His crucial breakthroughs ensured India was bowled out for 119 in 40.1 overs, leading Pakistan to a significant victory. Mushtaq’s masterful control and effective use of his googly played a pivotal role in this low-scoring match, showcasing his prowess as one of the premier leg-spinners of his time.

In the 1999-2000 Cable & Wireless One Day Series 3rd Final at Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Mushtaq Ahmed delivered a stellar bowling performance. West Indies, batting first, were bowled out for just 114 runs, with Mushtaq playing a pivotal role. 

He took 4 crucial wickets, finishing with impressive figures of 8.0-1-22-4 and an economy rate of 2.75. His exceptional spell significantly restricted the West Indies’ scoring. Later, Pakistan chased the modest target, achieving 116/6 in 45.5 overs.

In the 5th match of the India vs. Pakistan ODI series, held at the Cricket, Skating & Curling Club in Toronto on September 23, 1996, Mushtaq Ahmed delivered a stellar bowling performance. Defending Pakistan’s total of 213/9 in 50 overs, Mushtaq dismantled the Indian batting lineup with remarkable precision. 

He took 5 wickets, conceding just 36 runs in his 10 overs, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 3.60. His 5-wicket haul played a crucial role in bowling India out for 161, securing a significant victory for Pakistan.
