The IPL 2025 got off to a flying start as a mouth-watering clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru marked the commencement of the mega event. RCB captain Rajat Patidar invited the hosts Kolkata to bat first, and the decision seemed to have backfired initially, however, the bowlers did an exceptional job after the powerplay to pull things back in their favour.

At the fall of fifth wicket in the fifteenth over, KKR were relying heavily on Andre Russell to hit a few rollicking strokes during the slog overs. However, spinner Suyash Sharma had other plans, deceiving the star all-rounder off an absolute beauty of a googly, pitched at full length, luring Russell to go for the big one. To his dismay, Russell missed the delivery completely only to see his stumps get rattled completely on the fourth ball of the 16th over.
