Ben Stokes dismissed the dangerous Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second session on Day 1 of the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, helping England break a 66-run stand.

In the first session, the two flamboyant cricketers got into a war of words. Yashasvi was firing on all cylinders after Stokes won the toss and opted to field first. He took the attack to the England bowlers, playing an aggressive brand of cricket and scoring runs at a rapid rate. In the first session, the Indian opener got himself to 62 runs off 69 balls.

Stokes was pumped after giving his team a vital breakthrough. On the other hand, a gutted Yashasvi wasn’t ready to take the long walk back to the pavilion.

Yashasvi scored 87 runs off just 107 deliveries, belting 14 boundaries. He had played and missed a lot of cuts during the series, but finally edged one, and it was safely gobbled up by Smith behind the stumps. At the Tea break, India managed to get to 182/3. Shubman is batting on 42, while Pant remains unbeaten on 14.
