Ratnagiri Jets finally opened their account in the ongoing Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2025 with a much-needed victory over Satara Warriors in the 7th match of the season held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on June 8. Coming into this game on the back of three consecutive losses, the Jets made a clinical comeback with a five-wicket win.

After winning the toss, Ratnagiri opted to bowl first. Their bowlers made an early impact, picking up two quick wickets within the first two overs. Pradeep Dadhe was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, bagging a three-wicket haul in his four-over quota. Satara’s wicketkeeper-batter Om Bhosale tried to stabilise the innings with his 43 off 21 balls, lacing his knock with six boundaries and two sixes.

Captain Saurabh Nawale and Harshal Kate chipped in with 22 and 35 runs, respectively, and Aniket Porwal remained unbeaten on 25. For Ratnagiri, apart from Dhade, Satyajeet Bachhav, Sahil Churi, Divyang Hinganekar, and Vijay Pawale took a wicket each. The Warriors eventually posted 159 for 8 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Ratnagiri openers Dhiraj Phatangare and Atharva Dharmadhikari stitched a 33-run stand before both fell within the first five overs. Joe Ruebenson Pardesi and skipper Azim Kazi then put up a match-winning partnership. Pardesi scored 22 before being dismissed, but it was Kazi who made sure to take his team over the line. The southpaw smashed an unbeaten 62 off 42 balls, hitting six boundaries and three sixes.

Despite losing Kiran Chormale and Abhishek Pawar in the middle overs, Kazi held on end. The Jets eventually chased down the target with two overs to spare, finishing at 160 for 5 in 18 overs. Shamshuzama Kazi was the pick of the bowlers for Satara with two wickets. With this win, Ratnagiri Jets registered their first win of the season and now sit with one win from four games, while Satara Warriors, having lost all three of their matches, remain at the bottom of the table.
