Lucknow Super Giants’ wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant called out a social media user after his post claimed that the franchise is set to drop Pant ahead of the next Indian Premier League (IPL). The LSG captain dismissed the speculation as “fake news” and urged for more responsible and credible reporting.

LSG were officially knocked out of the IPL 2025 playoff race after a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Pant has been underwhelming with the bat this season, having managed only 135 runs in 11 innings. The left-handed batter was acquired by LSG for a whopping INR 27 crore during the mega auction held in Jeddah, becoming the most expensive purchase in the history of the tournament.

“I understand fake News gives more traction To content but let’s not built everything around it. Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with agenda. Thanks have a good day. Let’s be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media (sic)” wrote Pant on X.

The Lucknow-based franchise began the IPL 2025 season as one of the favourites with consistent performances from top-order batters Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran. However, the top-order lacked support from the middle-order.

In the bowling department, young spinner Digvesh Rathi emerged as a brilliant performer with several impressive spells. But, he received minimal support from the rest of the bowling unit which made it difficult for LSG to contain opponents and defend totals.

They are currently placed seventh on the points table with five wins and are out of contention for the playoffs. LSG have two fixtures remaining, one against Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 22 and another against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 27. The team will aim to finish their campaign on a high by securing victories in both matches.
