Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant went through a life-threatening accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway late at night on December 30, 2022. It was a dangerous accident as the car caught fire, but Pant somehow escaped from it. He was then taken to a hospital, where he went through all the surgeries. The player had to miss a year and three months of cricket due to the accident.

While he was recovering from the injuries, former India cricketer and Gujarat Titans (GT) head coach Ashish Nehra went to meet the wicketkeeper-batter. Nehra gave invaluable advice to him, which has stuck with Pant until now. During a conference in Kolkata, Pant opened up about the interaction he had with Nehra when the former cricketer advised him to ‘keep himself happy.’

“I think one piece of advice that really helped me was from Ashish Nehra. He is a senior from my club as well. He came to me, saw my condition, and told me, ‘I’ve had a lot of injuries. Just one thing I can tell you is to keep yourself happy. Do things that make you feel happy, and keep following that. I think that advice really stuck with me and helped me get through my injury,” said Rishabh Pant.

You just have to find your own way: Pant

During the conference, Pant revealed his mantra of keeping himself motivated when he was away from cricket. The cricketer learned the hard way that accepting everything is important rather than being ‘negative’ or ‘criticizing’ it.

“I had to accept that I couldn’t move on from this in one day or two. That’s when I calmed myself down and realized there was no point in being negative or criticizing myself every day. For me, it might be eating food. For someone else, it might be talking to someone. You just have to find your own way,” added Pant.
