Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar has been fined 10% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the 63rd match of IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians. The incident occurred on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium, where Delhi’s 59-run defeat confirmed their exit from playoff contention.

Mukesh accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Daniel Manohar for a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2, which refers to the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match. Mukesh’s frustration was evident during the must-win match that saw him concede 48 runs in his four overs, including a crucial 27-run 19th over that helped MI push their total.

The over witnessed a series of boundaries being hit by Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir, taking Mumbai to 180/5. Mukesh’s reaction following the over, involving the abuse of equipment, led to his fine. Despite picking up two wickets, of Will Jacks and Tilak Varma, Mukesh struggled to contain the flow of runs, especially in the death overs.

The game looked balanced for the first 18 overs, until the late flourish by MI in the last 12 deliveries of the innings. Delhi’s spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam, bowled brilliantly through the middle overs. In reply, DC’s batting line-up collapsed against Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner. Despite a fight back from young Sameer Rizvi (39) and Vipraj (20), DC were bundled out for 121 in 18.2 overs. Santner and Bumrah’s combined six wickets secured a comfortable win for MI. Meanwhile, Mukesh has played 11 of DC’s 13 matches this season, claiming 11 wickets at an economy rate of 10.11.
