Predicting TSK’s Playing XI for the 15th Match against LAKR in MLC 2025

In the 15th match of Major League Cricket 2025, the Texas Super Kings (TSK) will return to the field hoping to right the ship after an exhilarating, yet crushing, seven-wicket loss to Washington Freedom. TSK batted first and set an imposing target of 220/6, but their bowlers struggled to defend the total, and Washington Freedom’s offensive was too hot to tame. Now against the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR), TSK will have to find the correct balance between pure power and their bowling attack. With stars in both roles, let’s look at the predicted playing XI using what we learned from their last match.

Openers

Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis showed just why he remains one of the most dangerous T20 openers. His blistering innings of 69 runs from 31 balls against Washington was not only about the runs or an incredible strike rate of over 220; it was also about the sheer intent he displayed against the bowlers and the ability to lay siege to them without breaking a sweat. Even more importantly, the intent behind his explosive power play is commendable and will be essential against LAKR.

His opening bat partner should be Smit Patel, who scored a handy innings of 24 runs off 15 balls in the same game. Smit may not be explosive, but he is sure to rotate strike and can clear ropes at times, and is the perfect complement to Faf’s aggressive style. Together, they provide a blend of brute force and smart cricket to set up the tone for their innings at the top.

Middle Order

Marcus Stoinis

Marcus Stoinis may not have lit the world on fire with his match-winning performance, but his 32 off 24 balls was a pretty meaningful and crucial innings in terms of linking the openers and finishers. Stoinis can play slow or bang it, depending on the needs of the game. If wickets fall early in the innings, Stoinis’ steadiness will be crucial. Milind Kumar, alongside Stoinis, deserves another opportunity in the middle. Milind played a fantastic innings with unassumingly shot selection and carefree style, blasting a quickfire 31 runs off just 18 balls to keep the momentum of the innings going when it had a chance to stall. Milind’s unique and unconventional stroke play gives him a wildcard status at TSK.

All-Rounders

Donovan Ferreira

Donovan Ferreira had a forgettable outing with both bat and ball, but his potential as a finisher and part-time spinner shouldn’t be underestimated. A natural striker, he adds muscle to the lower order and can chip in with overs if needed.

Calvin Savage, on the other hand, made an impact with a 15* off just 8 balls. While he didn’t get a bowl in the last match, his bowling capabilities and fearless batting down the order make him a utility player; TSK would be wise to persist with him. These all-rounders may not steal headlines every game, but they often provide the hidden contributions that tilt results.

Bowlers

Adam Milne

Adam Milne was the only sparkling moment on what was overall a poor bowling night for TSK. His 3/42 included big wicket scalps, Owen, Ravindra, and Maxwell, who were threatening the game away. Milne’s genuine pace and bounce on the Dallas surface will be of real use to stop any high-scoring chase.

Supporting Milne should be Nandre Burger, even though he was wicketless. Burger brought firepower to TSK’s death bowling — and now, the onus is on the team to back that flame when the heat is on. Even though he has a 10.5 economy, his overall consistency this season is good enough for him to get another start.
