Predicting Australia Women’s Playing XI for their third ODI against New Zealand Women

Following an ‘abandoned game’ in the first ODI and a 65-run win in the second ODI against New Zealand Women in the three-match series, the Australia Women will take on the hosts in the third and last match of the three-match ODI series. 

The game will be played at the Basin Reserve in Wellington on December 23, at 3:30 PM (IST). Alyssa Healy and Co will aim to win this game and seal the series by 2-0 to end the ODI series on a winning note. 

With that said, we’ll look at the predicted playing XI of Australian women for the third and last fixture of their New Zealand tour.

The duo of skipper Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield will open the innings for Australia in the third and last ODI of the series. They stitched a steady partnership of 43 runs for the first wicket in 8.2 overs in the first ODI of the series. 

Healy scored 34 runs off 32 balls, hitting 7 fours followed by Litchfield’s 25 runs off 39 balls, with 3 fours. 

Middle-Order: Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney (WK), and Annabel Sutherland

The veteran batter Ellyse Perry will be there to bat at ‘number 3’ for the Aussie Women in the last fixture of the series. She might be followed by the wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney at number 4. Both batters could play a pivotal role in helping Australia to post a big total to trouble New Zealand with a big target. 

Following Perry and Mooney, the Australian middle-order also includes the star in-form batting all-rounder Annabel Sutherland. She smashed an amazing century in the second ODI, scoring 105 runs off just 81 balls, hitting 11 fours and two fours.

Off-spin all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner was one of the most economical bowlers for the tourists in the second ODI; she conceded only 15 runs in four overs to scalp a wicket. Besides that, Gardner also scored 19 runs with the bat in the first innings of the game. 

Besides Ashleigh Gardner, Tahlia McGrath also played a crucial role for her side with the bat; McGrath scored crucial 34 runs while batting in the lower order. She can be picked in the playing XI for the third ODI, alongside Gardner. 

Bowlers: Alana King, Kim Garth, Megan Schutt, and Darcie Brown

The bowling attack of the Aussie Women is more likely to be unchanged in the last game of the series., Kim Garth scalped 2 wickets at just 17 runs in six overs, including a maiden over. Besides her, Darcie Brown also bowled economical four overs, conceding only 15 runs. 

Kim Garth and Darcie Brown will be accompanied by Megan Schutt and Alana King in the bowling attack.
