Champions Trophy 2025: Predicting top 3 run-getters for Pakistan

Mohammad Rizwan and his Pakistan team are set to defend their Champions Trophy crown in front of their home fans. Pakistan are in great form in the ODI format having beaten Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa in successive series. One major factor in the home team’s favor is that they are playing most of their matches in their own backyard.

Ahead of the massive tournament, some of the Pakistani batters are struggling for form. The Men in Green though are known to pick up their performances just before big tournaments. In 2017, Pakistan under Sarfaraz Ahmed came from behind and staged a massive recovery to win the title.

Here are the likely top three run getters for Pakistan in Champions Trophy 2025

3. Mohammad Rizwan

Skipper Mohammad Rizwan has been a huge cog in the wheel of Pakistan’s middle-order. The 32-year-old has the ability to play the long innings and is a threat for any side. Rizwan uses his brain to run well between the wickets and put pressure on the opposition. Pakistan’s skipper can also score boundaries at will and keep his team afloat. If the defending champions have to retain their title they will have to hope their skipper can do well with the bat.

2. Babar Azam

Babar Azam

It might be surprising to see Babar Azam’s name in the likely top scorers list but the 30-year-old is a proven match winner. Babar Azam is just one knock away from coming back to his best. When the 30-year-old gets going he makes batting look easy to the eyes with his pleasing drives and cuts. Babar Azam has over the years relished batting in Lahore and Karachi and will have the support of his home fans backing him to come good.

1. Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman

Opening batter Fakhar Zaman scored a brutal 114 in the 2017 finals against India that set the tone for his side. The left-handed batter has always been known for his aggressive batting and it was evident in the first game of the Tri-series match against New Zealand. Zaman also played an attacking innings against the Kiwis during the 2023 ODI World Cup match in Bengaluru. Once he gets going, there is rarely any bowling unit that can stop the blazing blade of Fakhar Zaman.
