4 youngest players to play Tests for Australia

One of the most unforgettable experiences for each cricket player is playing test cricket for their nation. Test cricket is still the main benchmark for judging a player’s skill in the game since it is regarded as the best version of the game.

Australia has always been a dominant force in cricket worldwide. It’s a squad full of superstars and one of the hardest to get into. Several players had the opportunity to wear the recognizable Baggy Green at a very young age, despite the difficulties. Hence on that note, we take a look at 4 youngest players to play Tests for Australia

1. Ian Craig

Craig scored a half-century (53) and another remarkable 47-run haul in the second innings of his first match against South Africa at the MCG in 1953. Craig played 11 tests, scoring 358 runs at an average of just 19.88 despite having an outstanding start. His last test match for Australia came against  South Africa in 1958

In 2011, Pat Cummins, the current captain of Australia, made his debut for the squad in a test match against South Africa in Johannesburg. When he received his Test cap, he was only eighteen. After losing the first test of the series, Australia had called in young Cummins for the second and last test. Cummins had a game-winning play in his debut. After capturing six wickets in the second innings, he and Mitchell Johnson partnered for 18 runs to lead Australia to victory. However, injuries put a stop to his career, and he had to wait five years to return to the test squad.
