Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians (MI-W) have done complete justice to the brand and the winning-mentality associated with the franchise. As of now, the Women in Blue and Gold comfortably sit atop the Women’s Premier League (WPL) points table, having won each of their three games comprehensively.

Mumbai have been outrightly dominating their opponents and have left no room for error, having recruited an enviable mix of young talent and experienced players. They defeated Gujarat Giants by a whopping 143 runs in the first game and followed that with a nine-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore and an eight-wicket win over Delhi Capitals.

However, they are not the only side with great balance in the league as Alyssa Healy’s UP Warriorz (UP-W) too boast a similar mix of players.

The Warriorz have registered two wins in three outings in the league phase thus far. They registered a three-wicket win over Gujarat Giants, followed by a 42-run loss against Delhi Capitals. They are coming after a humongous 10-wicket win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in this game.

Can the Warriors be labelled ‘inconsistent’? Certainly not yet. However, the word might be associated with them if they continue the pattern.

All eyes will be fixated on Sunday’s blockbuster when the two teams square off at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 12.

Pitch & Conditions

The strip at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium is a batting-friendly one and remains pretty much the same throughout. Considering the shorter boundaries at the venue, the batters will enjoy scoring the big runs and a high-scoring contest can be expected.

Probable Playing XIs for UP-W vs MI-W

UP Warriorz Women

Following their 10-wicket win against RCB, Alyssa Healy could keep things simple and play with the same XI in their upcoming clash against MI.

Probable Playing XI: Alyssa Healy (c & wk), Shweta Sehrawat, Kiran Navgire, Tahlia McGrath, Deepti Sharma, Grace Harris, Devika Vaidya, Simran Shaikh, Sophie Ecclestone, Anjali Sarvani, Rajeshwari Gayakwad

Mumbai Indians Women

Similarly, Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. have not been tested yet. However, all of the credit goes to the scintillating performances displayed by them. The management may back the same XI against UP Warriorz as they appear to have found their core.

Probable Playing XI: Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Amelia Kerr, Pooja Vastrakar, Issy Wong, Amanjot Kaur, Humaira Kazi, Jintimani Kalita, Saika Ishaque
