‘Memories of holi’ – David Warner goes down the memory lane, shares throwback picture of Holi celebrations in India

David Warner left India tour midway after suffering an injury in the second Test held in Delhi. Earlier, he had horrendous outings with his bat returning with scores of 1 and 10 in the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. In the second Test, he appeared in the first innings and got hunted by Mohammed Shami at a score of 15.

In the upcoming months, Warner will be seen leading his IPL side Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as the franchise has handed the captaincy mantle to him after Rishabh Pant’s unavailability for the season due to his recovery from accident injuries he sustained in December 2022.

On the occasion of Holi, Warner took to his official Instagram and shared a throwback picture of him playing Holi. In the picture, he is seen painted in colours and enjoying the festival with his friends.

Posting the pic, Warner captioned “Memories of holi few years back.”

Warner looks to return fit 

Nowadays, his form is being talked about in cricketing circles as he hasn’t been upto the mark with his bat for a long time. Recently, former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting attended the ICC Review show and said the veteran should have retired after his knock in Sydney where he smashed a double-century against South Africa in the Boxing Day Test in December 2022.

“Look, I was on radio a couple of days ago, back here in Australia, and I thought the absolute best time for Davey to retire if he was thinking about it at all, was after the Sydney Test match here in Australia. He had just played his 100th Test in Melbourne and obviously got 200 in the first innings down there. And to bow out in front of his home crowd is obviously the way that every player would like to finish their careers,” Ponting said.

Before the start of the competition, his IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) will expect him to recover from his injury and return to the game stronger as the veteran has to deliver the team with both batting and captaincy skills.
