Australia cricketer David Warner believes there is a lot of cricket left in him and that by no means is he contemplating to quit, as the veteran southpaw has his eyes set on the upcoming Ashes.
Warner was a part of the Australian squad in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in India, before his stay got cut short and he had to fly back to Australia due to a fractured elbow. He had also suffered a concussion during the second Test in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley stadium. Australia lost the second Test by six wickets. Eventually, Warner could not resume his duties from Day 2 onwards.

“I’ve always said I’m playing to 2024; if the selectors feel that I’m not worthy of my spot, then so be it, and I can push on to the white-ball stuff,” the 36-year-old said while speaking to reporters at the Sydney Airport.
The swashbuckling left-handed batter stated that he was looking forward to featuring in the next Ashes tour to England. In a bold statement, Warner said that if the selectors wanted to look beyond him or tried to cut short his career in red-ball cricket, he would not mind shifting to white-ball format.
“I’ve got the next 12 months, a lot of cricket is ahead for the team. And if I can keep scoring runs and putting my best foot forward for the team and I can hold on to my spot, it’d be great for the team. It’s easy pickings (for critics) when you’re 36, and turning 37. I’ve seen it before with the ex-players as well. So, for me, if I’m taking pressure off the rest of the other guys, and no one’s worrying about the rest of the team, I’m happy to do that,” the underfire Aussie cricketer said.
Warner is one of the many Aussie crickters who has returned midway from the Test series against India. Josh Hazlewood too returned to nurse his Achilles injury while Ashton Agar will be playing domestic cricket for Western Australia.
