Century in SA20 League, Faf du Plessis signalled to return to the national team?

Faf du Plessis has been out of the national team for a long time. The South African Cricket Board did not consider him in the squad for the last two T20 World Cups. However, this right-handed batsman is repeatedly proving that the edge of the bat has not decreased. Plessis is still highly valued in franchise-based T20 leagues around the world. This Protea star scored a century in the SAT20 league as well. With this century, he sent a message to the selectors that he is not exhausted, fully fit to return to the national team.

Plessis played an unbeaten innings of 113 runs from 58 balls for the Juburg Super Kings. He finished the innings brilliantly with 8 fours and a six. However, this is the first century in the South African franchise league. No batsman has seen the magic score of three figures before. Meanwhile, after such an innings by Plessis, many want to see him in the national team again.

However, Plessis did not open his mouth about returning to the national team. Even after scoring a century in his country’s league, this experienced batsman did not talk about his plans. Plessis said, “When I was batting, the task was easy for us. But I believed in myself that I could do it. I am happy to play well. Thanks to the fans.”

Rob Walter is considering bringing Plessis back into the national team, even if Plesis doesn’t think about it. Newly appointed as South Africa’s ODI and T20 coach, Walter said, “Plessis is not finished yet. He is an experienced batsman. We need a player like him in our team. I think he should play in the national team again. I will discuss this with him.”

Meanwhile, South Africa has introduced the custom of two coaches with white and red balls. They have already appointed a new coach. Walter, who has been given the responsibility as the mastermind of the white ball, has not yet officially started working. This coach has already started thinking about the team. As part of that, Walter has recently expressed his interest in bringing Plessis into the team.
