After a game-changing knock in the fourth T20I against West Indies, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to make a mark in the following match as India suffered an eight-wicket defeat. The 21-year-old started well, as he hit a reverse sweep for four but couldn’t capitalize on that. On the fifth ball of the first over, Jaiswal threw away his wicket as Akeal Hosein picked up an easy catch off his bowling to send him back to the pavilion.

Analysing Jaiswal’s innings, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra stated that the youngster got carried away in the fifth T20I in Florida. He added saying that young cricketers often cross the line in order to play a fearless brand of cricket and that is something that the UP-born cricketer will learn with experience.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal was the first to get out and I personally felt he got carried away a little too much. This will happen, you will get this with youth. He is extremely fearless but there is a very thin line, which you will see a kid crossing quite a few times,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“When Yashasvi played a reverse sweep, I was on commentary and I said that I feel he would get out. He is very close to my heart but I felt he would get out and he got out, not that because I said, but he got out,” the 45-year-old added.

There was only one good opening partnership in the five-match T20I series: Chopra

India’s batting in the T20I series was very average. After losing the first two T20Is of the series, it got better in the third and fourth match but in the fifth, it once again struggled to get going. Aakash Chopra eventually pointed out that there was only one good opening partnership in the entire five-match series and that is very concerning at the moment.

“You will find that there was only one good opening partnership in the five-match T20I series and nothing special other than that,” Chopra added.
