Hosts Sri Lanka beat India by 4 wickets in the second match of the three-match T20I series on Wednesday night at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. As a result, the series is now tied at 1-1.

Due to Covid-19, many Indian players who played in the first match could not play in the second match. India entered the field with five debutants. After losing the toss, the visitors were sent to bat first and they scored 132 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Captain Shikhar Dhawan played an innings of 40 runs off 42 balls. Devdutt Padikkal, the debutant batsman, scored 29 runs. Besides, 21 runs came from the bat of another debutant Ruturaj Gaikwad. Akila Dananjaya took the maximum number of 2 wickets for Sri Lanka.

Chasing a small target of 133, Sri Lanka lost 4 wickets to score 66 runs. Even then, Dhananjaya de Silva was steering the team on the way to victory. He hit an unbeaten 40 off 34 balls with 1 four and 1 six, leaving the field after winning the match with 2 balls in hand. Minod Bhanuka was the second-highest run-scorer for Sri Lanka with 36 off 31 balls. Kuldeep Yadav took the most number of 2 wickets for India.
