Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad tied the knot with his long-term partner Utkarsha Pawar on Saturday, June 3 at the Le Méridien Mahabaleshwar Resort & Spa. Gaikwad, who had a fantastic Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season with CSK, was instrumental in the team’s record-equalling fifth title win.

Following the completion of the 16th edition of the IPL, the youngster was supposed to join Team India as a standby player for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, but he opted out of the mega event owing to his wedding, and Yashasvi Jaiswal has replaced him in the squad.

Utakarsha, like Gaikwad, is also a cricketer from Maharashtra. She recently competed in the Women’s Senior One-Day Trophy. The 24-year-old was recently spotted with Gaikwad at CSK’s title-winning celebrations at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after the MS Dhoni-led side defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) in a rain-curtailed summit clash on May 30.

Gaikwad took to his official Instagram account and posted adorable pictures of the wedding ceremony. The India batter donned a Manish Malhotra-designed attire, while Utkarsha looked gorgeous in a Pallod Creations’ lehenga.

“From the pitch to the altar, our journey begins!” Gaikwad captioned the post.

Shivam Dube and Prashant Solanki were among the CSK players who attended Gaikwad’s wedding ceremony. Cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, Rashid Khan, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Umran Malik, among others, extended their best wishes to the newlywed couple on social media.

Gaikwad was a standout performer in the IPL 2023 season, forming crucial partnerships with fellow opener Devon Conway and did so even in the title clash. The 26-year-old scored 590 runs in 16 matches, including four half-centuries, at an average of 42.14 and a strike rate of 147.50, finishing as the franchise’s second-leading run scorer.

Since making his IPL debut for CSK in 2019, he has scored 1,797 runs, including a century and 14 fifties at an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 135.52.
