Top 3 run-getters after Phase 1 of Ranji Trophy 2026-27

Phase 1 of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 has produced some outstanding batting performances across the country. Three batters in particular have separated themselves from the field with big aggregates and even bigger individual scores.

There have been considerable amount of impressive batting knocks that have shone across the initial phase, which saw four rounds, with Vidarbha being the most dominant side across the Elite Stage, while Sikkim are the toppers of the Plate League with two wins across four games. Meanwhile, the season has had a lot to offer for the batter thus far.

Here are top 3 run-getters from Phase 1 of Ranji Trophy 2026-27:

3. S Arora (Punjab)

Punjab’s Salil Arora rounds out the top three with 522 runs from six innings at an average of 104.40. He hit four centuries in Phase 1, the most by any batter in the top three, though his highest score of 151 is the lowest of the trio. Arora faced 935 balls at a strike rate of 55.82, scoring 47 fours and 10 sixes across four matches. He recorded one duck in Phase 1 alongside his four three-figure scores and no fifties.

2. Ayush Badoni (Delhi)

Delhi captain Ayush Badoni finished Phase 1 with 559 runs from six innings at an average of 111.80. His highest score of 217 came against Gujarat and put Delhi in a commanding position in that fixture. Badoni struck two centuries and one fifty across four matches, with no ducks to his name. He faced 684 balls at a strike rate of 81.72, accumulating 59 fours and five sixes in the process.

1. Chinmay Sutar (Mizoram)

Chinmay Sutar leads all Phase 1 run-scorers by a wide margin, having accumulated 834 runs from just five innings at a batting average of 208.50. He struck three centuries and one fifty across four matches, with a highest score of 400 not out. Sutar faced 1,261 balls at a strike rate of 66.13, hitting 89 fours and seven sixes, and was dismissed only once throughout Phase 1.

The centrepiece of his tally was an unbeaten 400 against Nagaland at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Dimapur on October 19, 2026. He reached that landmark from 517 deliveries, with 46 boundaries and seven sixes among his strokes. Sutar was unbeaten on 392 at tea and completed the milestone in the 155th over before Mizoram declared on 581 for 9. That innings was only his second first-class fixture, and it placed him second in Ranji Trophy history behind B.B. Nimbalkar’s unbeaten 443 for Maharashtra against Kathiawar in 1948. He also surpassed Prithvi Shaw‘s 379 to claim the second-highest individual score in the tournament’s history. Earlier in Phase 1, Sutar had scored 35 and 99 on debut against Manipur at Nadiad between October 11 and 14, 2026, in a three-wicket loss.
