The WPL 2027 Auction took place in Kochi on Wednesday, October 28, with franchises competing to secure key overseas and domestic talent ahead of the upcoming season. Several players attracted strong bids across the two sessions. A total of 25 players were sold at the auction on Wednesday, with seven of them being overseas. 14 uncapped players attracted takers as well.

Five franchises combined to spend a whopping INR 73.10 crore to add different players to their respective kitties.

Australian all-rounder Sophie Molineux drew the highest price of the day, going to UP Warriorz for ₹1.1 crore. She was the sole player to breach the ₹1 crore barrier at the event. Among others sold on the day, Jess Jonassen fetched ₹40 lakh, while Chloe Tryon, Orla Prendergast and Grace Harris each went for ₹30 lakh.

South Africa’s Chloe Tryon was also picked up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹30 lakh. 2. Jess Jonassen

Australian spinner Jess Jonassen, who went to Royal Challengers Bengaluru for 40 lakh, was among the best deals made by the franchise at the auction table. Jonassen will play for the defending champions, having spent times elsewhere previously. She will look to provide her all-round abilities to the Bengaluru-based franchise, given she gets a chance in the playing XI.

1. Sophie Molineux

Sophie Molineux joined UP Warriorz for ₹1.1 crore at the WPL 2027 Auction, having registered at the highest base price of ₹50 lakh. She was the only player to cross the ₹1 crore mark on the day, with only Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriorz holding purses above ₹1 crore at the point of her sale. Molineux had previously represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru across the WPL 2024 and 2025 seasons, appearing in 10 games during that stint.
