The Women’s Premier League has confirmed a pool of 146 registered players for the WPL 2027 mini-auction, scheduled for October 28. Across the five franchises, 27 slots are up for grabs, making this a tightly contested window for Indian and overseas cricketers alike.
England batter Sophia Dunkley and Australia spinner Sophie Molineux stand alone at the top of the price table, each entering the auction with a base price of INR 50 lakh. No other player in the pool has set their base price at that level. The Women’s Premier League official account confirmed the full player list breakdown on October 20, announcing that the auction will be streamed live on JioHotstar October 28.
The 144 remaining players are spread across four lower price brackets, ranging from INR 40 lakh down to INR 10 lakh, creating a wide range of bidding opportunities for franchises across the auction floor.
How are the 146 players distributed across base-price brackets?
Four players have entered at INR 40 lakh, placing themselves in the second tier of the price structure. Thirty cricketers have opted for the INR 30 lakh bracket, while four others have set their base price at INR 20 lakh. The overwhelming majority of the pool, 106 players in total, have listed themselves at the floor price of INR 10 lakh.
The Indian contingent is the largest group in the pool, with 119 players registered. Within that group, 22 are capped and 97 are uncapped. Despite the size of the Indian pool, franchises can fill no more than 20 Indian slots across the entire auction.
The overseas pool comprises 27 players, made up of 14 capped and 13 uncapped cricketers. Competition for those spots will be particularly intense, as only seven overseas slots are available to be filled across all five franchises combined.
What does the slot structure mean for the October 28 auction?
The 27 available slots are divided into 20 for Indian players and seven for overseas players, a split that reflects the league’s existing roster framework and the retention decisions each franchise made ahead of this auction cycle.
With 106 players entering at INR 10 lakh, the floor-price group represents the most accessible segment of the pool and is likely to generate competitive bidding for uncapped talent. Franchises looking to add depth at low cost will have a large selection to consider, though the limited number of slots means most players at this level will go unsold.
At the top end, Dunkley and Molineux are the only two players priced at INR 50 lakh, setting a clear ceiling for this auction cycle.
