Former England captain Michael Vaughan has expressed strong confidence in Harry Brook’s ability to play a decisive role in England securing a white-ball trophy. The former England captain outlined his belief that Brook possesses the quality required to deliver major honours for the national team in limited-overs cricket.

Brook, aged 26, currently holds the position of England’s white-ball captain following Jos Buttler’s decision to step down after England’s group stage elimination from the ICC Champions Trophy. The appointment reflects the national selectors’ confidence in Brook’s leadership credentials and his standing within the squad structure.

“I have no doubt Harry Brook in the England side, they’ll have a moment where they win Ashes series and he’s man of the series. He should and I believe he’ll win England a white ball trophy, you need your other 10 players but I think he’s that good,” Vaughan said on The Overlap Cricket.

Vaughan’s assessment also extended to Brook’s potential in Test cricket. The former England captain suggested that Brook could emerge as the standout performer in a future Ashes series and potentially win the Player of the Series award. Brook is currently ranked No. 2 in the ICC Test batting rankings, underlining his status as one of the leading batters in the format.

The right-handed batter’s growing experience in leadership roles has also made him an increasingly important figure in England’s white-ball plans. He captained England during their ODI series against Australia in September and previously served as vice-captain during the Champions Trophy. These responsibilities have given Brook valuable exposure to high-pressure international cricket while allowing him to develop his leadership skills.

With his ability to score quickly and influence matches, Brook has become a key part of England’s plans across formats. Vaughan’s comments further highlight the expectations surrounding the 27-year-old, who could play a significant role in England’s pursuit of major international titles. He will be seen in action in the tri-nation series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
