Asian Men’s T20 | Pakistan vs India Final Match Preview

India vs Pakistan – Final, Asian Games 2026 Men’s T20

The Final of the Asian Games 2026 men’s T20 event will see India take on Pakistan on Saturday, October 3, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan. The match will begin at 1:30 PM local time, 4:30 AM GMT and 10:00 AM IST (9:30 AM PKT), with the gold medal at stake. India are chasing back-to-back Asian Games golds, while Pakistan are looking for their first, which makes this a high-stakes contest.

India’s batting group features Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Shreyas Iyer, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson. Abhishek and the young Sooryavanshi can provide an explosive start at the top of the order. Kishan arrives in strong form after his unbeaten 80 off 46 balls in the semi-final against Sri Lanka. Iyer, who leads the side, and Tilak bring stability through the middle order, while Samson adds further depth and strokeplay.

India also have useful all-round options in Shivam Dube, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. Dube offers big-hitting ability along with handy overs, while Axar and Sundar add spin bowling and lower-order batting.

The Indian bowling attack is led by Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, with Ravi Bishnoi, Yash Thakur and Vipraj Nigam adding further options. Bumrah and Arshdeep can provide pace and early wickets with the new ball, while Bishnoi’s leg-spin could be key through the middle overs. India bowled Sri Lanka out for just 45 in the semi-final, so the attack is in excellent rhythm.

Pakistan’s batting group, led by captain Sahibzada Farhan, includes Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Abdul Samad, Irfan Khan Niazi and Usman Khan. Farhan and Hasan Nawaz can provide an aggressive start at the top, while Haris adds wicketkeeping and power-hitting. Samad, who is vice-captain, brings finishing ability. Pakistan are playing this tournament without most of their senior names, so this is a younger and less proven group.

Pakistan’s all-round options include Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf. Khushdil offers left-arm spin along with middle-order hitting, while Faheem adds seam bowling and lower-order runs.

The Pakistan bowling attack features Abbas Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani, Sufiyan Muqeem, Jahandad Khan and Mohammad Wasim Jr. Afridi and Dahani can provide pace and early breakthroughs, while Pakistan’s spinners did most of the damage in the semi-final win over Bangladesh, where they chased 112 in 11.3 overs.

India have won 14 of the 17 T20Is played between the two sides and have won each of their last five meetings, including a 61-run win at the 2026 T20 World Cup in February. Pakistan will need a big performance from their spinners and top order to change that. India will depend heavily on Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, while Pakistan’s chances could be shaped by Sahibzada Farhan, Abdul Samad, Khushdil Shah, Abbas Afridi and Sufiyan Muqeem. Weather is also a factor, with a 40% chance of rain forecast. If the final is washed out, the gold medal will be shared between both teams.

Expert Prediction: India have a 70% chance and Pakistan have a 30% winning chance.
