‘I wouldn’t think twice’ – Dhruv Shorey hopes to play in England County Cricket next season [Exclusive]

In an exclusive interaction with CricTracker, Vidarbha batter Dhruv Shorey opened up about several aspects of his cricketing journey, including his desire to play county cricket in England. Shorey admitted that he would relish the opportunity to feature in the prestigious competition and test himself in English conditions.

The right-handed batter stated that he would have no second thoughts about accepting an opportunity to play county cricket. He also expressed hope that something comes his way next season or in the near future, as he would certainly be keen to take up the opportunity.

County cricket has long been regarded as an excellent platform for players to adapt to challenging conditions while gaining valuable experience. For Shorey, a stint in England could provide him with an opportunity to further develop his game and compete against some of the best domestic players in the country.

The 32-year-old has established himself as a consistent performer in domestic cricket. He has accumulated 5,455 runs in 77 first-class matches at an impressive average of 48.70, including 15 centuries and 24 fifties. In List A cricket, Shorey has scored 3,227 runs in 81 matches at an average of 44.81, highlighting his consistency across formats.

Shorey began his domestic career with Delhi before making the move to Vidarbha. Leaving behind a familiar setup, the batter embraced a new challenge and has continued to contribute significantly to his new side. Have you thought about playing county cricket? What are your views on it?

I would love to actually, you know, I see a lot of counties in England and English conditions and I would love to play the county cricket. If I get an opportunity ever, you know, I won’t even have a second thought about playing the county cricket. I love watching county cricket over there and I hope, you know, one day or next season or something like that, something clicks then I get into county cricket and I play county cricket.
