A fan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium approached Pakistan team mentor Wahab Riaz near the advertising hoardings after Pakistan qualified for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 semi-finals and made a special request on camera. The video began circulating on social media on September 8, 2026 and went viral quickly. Pakistan had secured their semi-final berth following a win over Hong Kong.

The fan’s request, captured in the video and shared widely and was directed entirely at Wahab and focused on the prospect of a potential meeting with India.

“Wahab sahab, India par koshish karein. Wahab bhai, India ko beat karna hai humne. Humein (Asia Cup) trophy nahi chahiye, India ko humne harana hai. India ko nahi chhodna,” said the fan on the video which went viral on X.

Pakistan’s group-stage collapse against India

The request came in the backdrop of Pakistan’s heavy defeat to India in the group stage. On September 5, 2026, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan were bowled out for 55 runs in 18.1 overs, which stands as their lowest-ever total in women’s T20Is. India chased the 56-run target in 8.4 overs, winning by seven wickets. The match was also Pakistan’s 200th women’s T20I.

India’s bowlers dominated that group-stage contest. Shree Charani took 3/7 and Prema Rawat took 3/9 to skittle Pakistan cheaply. Shawaal Zulfiqar, who scored 14 off 14 balls, and Muneeba Ali, who made 13 off 15 balls, were the only Pakistan batters to reach double figures. Fatima Sana took 3/17 for Pakistan in India’s chase, but Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma added 28 unbeaten runs for the fourth wicket to finish the match. Harmanpreet remained unbeaten on 18 and Deepti on 12. The result extended India’s head-to-head record against Pakistan in women’s T20Is to 15 wins from 18 matches.

Wahab Riaz’s response after the India defeat

Wahab had spoken to reporters after that defeat. Pakistan’s semi-final berth came after their win over Hong Kong, which followed the group-stage loss to India. Pakistan will meet Sri Lanka Women in the semi-final on Friday, September 11.

“I still believe Pakistan is the best side in this Asia Cup to lift the trophy because the conditions really suit us. We will go back and discuss what we did wrong against India. We won’t commit the same mistakes,” said Riaz after the loss to India.
