WATCH: Mohammed Shami takes stunning low catch off his own bowling to dismiss Harsh Dubey

Veteran cricketer Mohammed Shami produced a moment that quickly caught attention during the Duleep Trophy 2026 semi-final between East Zone and Central Zone when he completed a low, one-handed caught-and-bowled to remove Harsh Dubey. The dismissal required sharp reflexes as Shami bent close to the ground and held on to the ball after it came back sharply off the bat.

The BCCI Domestic social media handle shared the clip and described it as a ‘fantastic one-handed catch’ that showcased unbelievable reflexes. The replay showed Shami reaching near the pitch as Dubey pushed a full-length ball straight back towards the bowler. Shami managed to cling on to the ball and completed a brilliant caught-and-bowled dismissal to strengthen East Zone’s grip in the contest.

The low trajectory of the ball and the speed at which Shami reacted made the moment stand out in a contest taking place at the Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru.

It was the third wicket for the senior bowler in the second innings of the ongoing fixture, as he had already accounted for the dismissals of Aryan Juyal and Yash Rathod. The Amrohi-born bowler’s spell helped the East bundle the Central out for a mere 158, as the Ishan Kishan-led side now needs just 159 runs to become the first team to book their berth for the final.

Shami’s bowling credentials

Notably, Shami has been grinding it out in the domestic circuit and has been ignored by the national selectors for a permanent place in the Indian team. Shami was the star of India’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign and made full efforts to make India win the contest, but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as they lost to Australia in the final.

After the World Cup, Shami had to stay out of the team owing to an injury and made a comeback after a long wait of more than a year. In early 2025, Shami featured for the Indians in the white-ball series against England and also made it to the Champions Trophy 2025. He was the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament as the Men in Blue triumphed. He has been out of action in international cricket ever since.
