MS Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Indian Premier League history. While his leadership has been the cornerstone of Chennai Super Kings’ success, his contributions with the bat have been equally memorable. Dhoni has led CSK to five IPL titles and produced countless match-winning innings under pressure, especially in run chases and the death overs. Known for his calm temperament, finishing ability, and clean ball-striking, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter has scored over 5,400 IPL runs across 278 matches.

Here are three best knocks of MS Dhoni for CSK:

75* vs Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2019

One of Dhoni’s most complete innings came against Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in IPL 2019. Batting first, CSK posted 175/5, with Dhoni remaining unbeaten on 75 off 46 balls. His innings included four boundaries and four towering sixes at a strike rate of 163.04.

After CSK lost early wickets, Dhoni anchored the innings brilliantly while accelerating in the final overs. He stitched together crucial fifty-plus partnerships with Suresh Raina and Dwayne Bravo, ensuring Chennai reached a competitive total. Rajasthan Royals managed 167/8 in reply despite Ben Stokes’ 46, handing CSK an eight-run victory. Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir, and Dwayne Bravo claimed two wickets each to seal the win.

63* vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, CLT20 2013

Although it came in the Champions League T20 rather than the IPL, Dhoni’s unbeaten 63 off just 19 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad remains one of the most destructive innings of his career. Playing in Ranchi, CSK posted 202/4, thanks to Suresh Raina’s 84 and Dhoni’s sensational late assault.

Dhoni smashed one four and eight sixes at an astonishing strike rate of 331.58. The highlight of the innings was his incredible over against Thisara Perera, in which he hammered five sixes. Sunrisers fought hard in the chase but finished on 190/7, with Darren Sammy scoring 50. Dwayne Bravo and Jason Holder picked up two wickets each as CSK secured victory.

Dhoni produced another unforgettable chase against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2018. Chasing a daunting target of 206, CSK found themselves in a commanding position thanks to Ambati Rayudu’s 82 before Dhoni took charge in the closing stages.

The CSK skipper remained unbeaten on 70 from just 34 deliveries, smashing one four and seven sixes at a strike rate of 205.88. He shared a match-winning 100-run partnership with Rayudu, guiding Chennai to a thrilling five-wicket victory with two balls to spare. His calculated aggression and trademark finishing once again highlighted why he is regarded as one of the greatest finishers in cricket history.
