‘It’ll be a dream situation for CSK’ – S Badrinath picks 2 new additions after dismal IPL 2026 campaign

Subramaniam Badrinath urged the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) management to try and acquire the services of legendary seam-bowling all-rounders Ben Stokes and Hardik Pandya for IPL 2027.

The former India batter’s assessment came after the five-time champions had a disappointing campaign this season, finishing eighth on the points table with just six wins from 14 matches. CSK have not made the playoffs in the last three seasons.

As per reports, Hardik is looking for a new franchise and CSK could look to sign him up for the upcoming season. Ben Stokes, on the other hand, recently retired from international cricket and is expected to enter the IPL 2027 mini-auction later this year.

“MI won’t give away Hardik Pandya for nothing. They’ll want atleast two players in return. CSK should trade Shivam Dube for Hardik as an all-rounder swap. It’ll be a dream situation for CSK if they can land Hardik and get Ben Stokes. CSK will be in the discussions for Hardik but they probably just don’t want to reveal it for now,” Badrinath said on his YouTube channel.

Badrinath, however, admitted that the Kolkata Knight Riders could be the ideal fit for Hardik because of his all-round abilities and leadership acumen.

“It looks like all teams except RCB and SRH are interested in Hardik Pandya. There’s no smoke without fire. So these reports suggest that the Mumbai Indians are ready to trade him. Being a high-quality all-rounder, the ideal team for Hardik Pandya will be KKR. They need an all-rounder, a captain and a senior player, making him the ideal fit there.”
