Lancashire Lightning have confirmed the signing of Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan for the remainder of the 2026 T20 Blast season. The 27-year-old has been brought in as an injury replacement for Australia’s Chris Green and will now be added to the squad for their away game against Leicestershire Foxes at Grace Road on Friday, June 26.
Shadab comes into the Blast after captaining the Abbottabad Region to the National T20 Cup title, beating Karachi Whites in the final in Lahore. He took two wickets in the final to restrict the opponents to 118 in the first innings, which was chased down with relative ease.
He now joins a side that is currently at the foot of the North Group with just eight points to their name from six matches. Lancashire, however, did secure a win against Durham in their last Blast fixture by seven wickets at Chester-le-Street.
It is worth mentioning that the spin-bowling all-rounder has had previous experience of playing in the T20 Blast. He played two seasons in England’s domestic T20 competition in 2022 and 2023, representing Yorkshire and Sussex, respectively. In 24 matches in the tournament, Shadab has taken 21 wickets at an economy rate of 9.13 and also scored 374, striking at 138.
Capped 124 times by Pakistan in the shortest format of the game, Shadab will join teammates Usman Tariq, Hasan Ali and Usama Mir in competing in the T20 Blast this season.
“I am delighted to sign for Lancashire Lightning for the rest of the Vitality Blast. I love playing cricket in England and have really enjoyed my previous stints in the competition. Lancashire is one of the biggest clubs in the country, with so much history, and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt at Emirates Old Trafford in front of the home fans,” Shadab Khan said on Lancashire’s official website.
Shadab had an excellent season during the 2026 Pakistan Super League for Islamabad United. He went on to take 17 wickets at an economy of just above 7 whilst also hitting 173 runs in the tournament. The spinner also had a stint in the 2025-26 Big Bash League representing the Sydney Thunder.
