Former India captain Rohit Sharma was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award at a ceremonial function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. The honour was presented by Droupadi Murmu in recognition of Rohit’s outstanding contribution to Indian cricket and his remarkable achievements on the international stage.
The celebrated batter, who has been one of India’s most successful cricketers across formats, joined several distinguished personalities at the investiture ceremony. The award marked another significant milestone in an illustrious career that has seen Rohit establish himself as one of the finest batters of his generation.
Rohit had missed the first investiture ceremony held in May due to professional and personal commitments. However, he was present in New Delhi on Tuesday to receive the honour, accompanied by his wife, Ritika Sajdeh. Ritika watched proudly from the audience as Rohit walked onto the stage to accept the award from President Murmu.
Before receiving the Padma Shri, Rohit was seen acknowledging Narendra Modi with a respectful bow. Dressed elegantly in a black suit, the former India captain carried a bright smile throughout the ceremony, making it a memorable occasion for both his family and fans.

Rohit’s contribution to Indian cricket has been immense. Over the years, he has delivered several match-winning performances and played a pivotal role in many of India’s memorable victories. Known for his elegant strokeplay and ability to score big hundreds, Rohit has enjoyed a stellar international career across all three formats of the game.
The veteran batter has now retired from Test cricket and T20 Internationals, shifting his complete focus to the ODI format. With the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup set to be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, Rohit remains committed to contributing to India’s success in the 50-over format.
In his international career, Rohit scored 4,301 runs in 67 Test matches and amassed 4,231 runs in 159 T20 Internationals. His greatest impact came in ODI cricket, where he accumulated 11,720 runs, including 50 centuries and 112 half-centuries. He also holds the unique distinction of scoring three double centuries in ODIs, a feat unmatched in international cricket.
