Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become one of the biggest talking points in world cricket after his stunning performances in the recently concluded IPL 2026. The 15-year-old broke several records during the tournament and was subsequently rewarded with a maiden senior India call-up for the upcoming T20I tours of Ireland and England.

Vaibhav’s selection made history as he became the youngest male cricketer to earn a call-up to India’s senior team. With India set to begin their tour with a two-match T20I series against Ireland in Belfast, the youngster is expected to be one of the biggest attractions of the series.

Graeme West, Head of Cricket at Cricket Ireland’s High-Performance Centre, admitted that Vaibhav’s inclusion has further increased the excitement surrounding India’s visit.

“Very much so. It’s certainly one of the highlights of our summer here in Ireland. When we were working with the BCCI to arrange these games, we understood that India has a very busy schedule over the next few months. When we finally managed to get everything confirmed, we were all very excited. We’re really looking forward to hosting India,” West told Revsportz.

The Cricket Ireland official revealed that the Irish management closely followed Vaibhav’s exploits in the IPL and were not surprised to see him earn a place in India’s squad.

“We followed the IPL very closely and saw how well he performed. It certainly felt like there was a good chance he would be selected. His inclusion definitely adds extra profile and attention to the series. Playing against the world champions is already a major challenge, and having a young player in such good form only increases that challenge. It will also increase public interest and media attention around the games. Our analysts will undoubtedly be working hard to develop plans for him before he arrives in Belfast,” he stated.

India’s visit has already generated considerable interest among fans in Ireland, with ticket sales receiving a strong response. However, West believes Vaibhav’s selection could further increase demand for the remaining tickets.

“The interest generated by India’s visit was already significant before his selection. Ticket sales reflected that. However, if any tickets remain available, his inclusion will certainly create even more demand,” West concluded.

Ireland will host India for a two-match T20I series starting on June 26. Both the matches will be played at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast.
