Mitchell Starc enhanced his reputation as one of the finest fielders among fast bowlers by taking a brilliant catch at long-on to dismiss Manish Pandey at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, May 24. The Delhi Capitals (DC) badly needed a wicket at that stage, and it came thanks to some exemplary fielding from Starc.
As the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were chasing a 204-run target in the final league game of the season, Manish Pandey and Ajinkya Rahane looked in good touch during a 44-run partnership off 25 balls for the second wicket.
However, on the third ball of the eighth over, bowled by Lungi Ngidi, Pandey walked down the wicket to loft towards wide long-on. Starc moved swiftly to his right and put in a dive in front to take a magnificent catch that even stunned Pandey, who has taken some blinders this season.
