The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 54 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday, May 10

The defending champions head to Raipur to play the first of their final two home games. They were beaten by the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in a rain-curtailed game that was reduced to 19 overs per side. They have lost their last two games but still find themselves in a position of strength from which they can push for the playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians come off a dominant victory against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium but are out of contention for the playoffs. The win at the Wankhede was just their third of the campaign, and they find themselves in ninth place, needing a miracle to make it to the playoffs.

Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur – Pitch Report

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur sees its first IPL match since 2016. In six matches, teams chasing have won four times. The pitch is a traditional black soil wicket on the slightly slower end, providing aid to both pacers and spinners. But what is most fascinating about the stadium is its long boundaries. The average boundaries measure over 80 metres, with the longest boundary measuring a whopping 84 metres. The dimensions, though, may see an alteration, to potentially increase the boundary count.

RCB vs MI Strategies and Match-ups

This is one of the most competitive rivalries in the IPL, with two of the most followed teams in the country. The two teams met at the Wankhede Stadium on April 12, where RCB, being put into bat, scored a massive 240/4 in their 20 overs. The five-time champions started slowly in the powerplay, being dented by Rohit Sharma’s hamstring injury. They reached 222/5 in their innings courtesy of Sherfane Rutherford’s brutal hitting display in the back end.

Suryakumar Yadav is slated to return to the playing XI after it was reported that he would miss the game for MI due to the birth of his daughter. India’s T20 World Cup-winning skipper captained MI in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who missed the LSG game with a back spasm. Hardik has also joined the squad in Raipur, but his participation is dependent on considerable fitness considerations.
