IPL 2026 Match 50: Predicted Playing XI for LSG vs RCB

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be hunting for their first win in seven matches when they take on defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 50 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday, May 7, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium.

This will be their second meeting this season, with LSG already suffering defeat in the reverse fixture at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. Both sides are also coming into the game on the back of contrasting fortunes. Whilst LSG are at the bottom of the standings, RCB are in the top four and are closing in on securing a playoff berth.

IPL 2026 Match 50: Predicted Playing XI for LSG vs RCB
Lucknow Super Giants

Top Order: Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant (C & WK)

It is safe to say that LSG’s top order on paper looked one of the strongest in the IPL this season, but they have failed to deliver runs consistently. Mitchell Marsh has been their leading run-scorer with 256 runs, but his strike-rate is just 139.13. Markram, on the other hand, has a slightly better strike-rate and is their second-highest run-getter.

Middle Order: Josh Inglis, Nicholas Pooran, Akshat Raghuwanshi, Himmat Singh

The return of Josh Inglis could see LSG field a playing XI with four overseas batters, with their Indian bowling core being great this season. It has been a case of being too little too late for Nicholas Pooran, who scored 63 at a strike-rate of 300 against the Mumbai Indians. Before that, he scored just 82 runs from 10 innings in this season’s IPL.

Bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, Prince Yadav

Despite their struggles all season, LSG’s bowling has not been their problem. Prince Yadav is currently enjoying a breakout year and is in contention for the Purple Cap. He currently has 13 wickets to his name at an economy of 8.06. LSG can always rely on the experience of Mohammed Shami to lead their bowling unit, with Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan also there for support.

Top Order: Virat Kohli, Jacob Bethell, Devdutt Padikkal

Virat Kohli continues to be ever-reliable for RCB at the top of the order, alongside Devdutt Padikkal. The former captain has scored 379 at a strike-rate of 165, while Padikkal strikes at 188. RCB had a reliable opening partner in Phil Salt to bat alongside Kohli, but with him out injured, his compatriot Jacob Bethell has one in to replace him.

Middle Order: Rajat Patidar (C), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya

RCB’s middle order is full of power-hitters, which allows the top order to play freely without worrying about the scoring rate towards the death and also in the middle overs. Captain Rajat Patidar is their flagbearer with a strike-rate of above 200 at this year’s IPL. Tim David and Romario Shepherd are both excellent finishers, capable of chasing down any target in sight.

Bowlers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood

Amongst all the batting stars, it is RCB’s bowling unit which has won them games on regular occasions this season. The experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar is currently the Purple Cap holder with 17 wickets to his name, while Josh Hazlewood has eight wickets from six matches. Suyash Sharma is one of the most underrated spinners in the IPL, bowling at an economy of 8.31 in 2026.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Virat Kohli, Jacob Bethell, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (C), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood
