In the 40th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL), Punjab Kings (PBKS) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR). The Punjab Kings performed well in the previous game as they won by 6 wickets against the Delhi Capitals. Delhi, batting first, set a target of 265 runs, which Punjab successfully chased down in 18.5 overs. Punjab’s top order contributed effectively, with Prabhsimran Singh scoring 76 runs, while Shreyas Iyer played a match-winning knock of 71. In the bowling department, Punjab’s bowling unit looked completely out of form, while Arshdeep Singh and Xavier Bartlett chipped in with one wicket each.

On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals had a disappointing performance in their previous match, suffering a five-wicket defeat against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Batting first, Rajasthan managed to post 228 runs, while Sunrisers comfortably chased down the target in 18.3 overs. However, the batting unit of the Rajasthan Royals performed brilliantly, especially Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who played an innings of 103 runs in 37 balls.

Apart from him, Dhruv Jurel and Donovan Ferreira also played solid innings of 51 and 33 runs, respectively. But Rajasthan’s bowling looked very poor, and despite such a big total, they failed to defend it. However, from Rajasthan’s side, Jofra Archer bowled brilliantly and took two wickets for 34 runs in four overs, while Brijesh Sharma also took two wickets, but the performance of the rest of the bowlers was quite disappointing.
