Australia’s premier pacer Mitchell Starc has finally linked up with the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, but fans may have to wait a little longer to see him in action. The left-arm quick, who was sidelined due to shoulder and elbow injury, arrived in India on April 25 after completing his rehabilitation in Australia.
Despite joining the squad, the left-arm pacer is unlikely to feature in Delhi’s upcoming fixtures against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The franchise is expected to ease him back into action, with a potential return slated for May 1 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

The 35-year-old has joined the camp ahead of schedule to get accustomed to Indian conditions and is likely to spend the next few days training with the squad. A similar approach was followed by Pat Cummins, who linked up early with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before making his return to match action. The SRH captain is set to play the match against RR on April 25.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s campaign has been a mixed bag so far. With three wins and three losses, they currently sits sixth on the points table and will be aiming to find consistency in the crucial phase of the tournament. Senior batter KL Rahul showed signs of form in the previous outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad and will be key to Delhi’s chances in the upcoming home games.
With Starc joining the squad, it will give the Axar Patel-led side an immense boost. He had a good IPL 2025 season for the Delhi-based franchise, and was one of their main wicket-takers. In 11 matches, the Aussie pacer bagged 14 wickets at an average of 26.14 and an economy rate of 10.17, including his maiden five-wicket haul in the league.
