Lucknow Super Giants edged past Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets in a thrilling encounter in the Indian Premier League 2026 on April 9 at Eden Gardens. After winning the toss, LSG opted to bowl first and were tested by a strong KKR batting performance.

KKR posted a competitive total of 181/4 in their 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane (41) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (45) stitched together an impressive 84-run partnership for the second wicket, laying a solid foundation. Later, Cameron Green (32* off 24) and Rovman Powell (39* off 24) accelerated the innings with a 70-run stand, pushing KKR to a challenging total. LSG’s bowling effort was disciplined, with four bowlers picking up one wicket each.

In reply, LSG had a shaky start despite Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram adding 41 runs for the opening wicket. The middle order faltered, but Ayush Badoni played a crucial knock of 54 off 34 balls to keep the chase alive. After his dismissal, the game hung in the balance.

Youngster Mukul Choudhary then produced a sensational unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls, smashing two fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 200 to guide LSG home in dramatic fashion. His fearless hitting in the death overs proved to be the difference. For KKR, Vaibhav Arora (2/38) and Anukul Roy (2/32) were the standout performers with the ball.

With this win, LSG climbed to fifth place on the points table with four points, while KKR remained ninth with just one point.
