ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026: 3 England players to watch for in IND vs ENG Semi Final 2

India will lock horns with England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Men in Blue, playing as co-hosts, have shown resilience and dominance throughout the tournament.

India entered the Super Eight stage unbeaten after registering convincing wins over Pakistan, USA, Netherlands, and Namibia. Although they stumbled in their opening Super Eight fixture against South Africa, they bounced back emphatically with strong performances against Zimbabwe and West Indies.

England, on the other hand, advanced after defeating Scotland, Italy, and Nepal in the group stage but suffered a loss to the West Indies. However, they looked formidable in the Super Eight, overcoming Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand to seal their semi-final berth.

Here are three England players to watch for in IND vs ENG in semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026:

Adil Rashid

Adil Rashid

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid continues to be one of England’s most dependable performers in T20 cricket. Although he struggled early in the tournament, where opposition batters attacked him aggressively, Rashid regained his rhythm in the latter stages. Despite a tough outing against Nepal earlier in the competition, he bounced back strongly with 2/16 against West Indies and followed it up with 3/36 versus Scotland. While he conceded runs against Italy despite taking a wicket, his ability to provide breakthroughs has remained consistent.

He also returned figures of 1/31 against Pakistan and once again impressed against Sri Lanka with 2/13, controlling the tempo during crucial phases. Rashid concluded the Super Eight stage with 2/28 against New Zealand. Returning to Indian conditions, where pitches often assist quality spinners, Rashid’s variations could play a decisive role in restricting India’s aggressive middle order.

Sam Curran

Sam Curran

All-rounder Sam Curran is another vital asset for England heading into the semi-final. Over the past few years, Curran has excelled in franchise cricket, and his consistent performances earned him a recall to the national side. One of his standout moments came when he bowled a tight 1/27 spell, successfully defending 10 runs in the final over under immense pressure. Against the West Indies, he played a crucial unbeaten knock of 43, demonstrating composure in a tense situation.

He also produced a strong all-round effort versus Scotland and registered impressive figures of 3/22 against Italy in the final group-stage match, a performance that significantly influenced England’s win. Although he did not bowl against Sri Lanka due to spin-friendly conditions, and went wicketless in two Super Eight matches, Curran remained economical and disciplined overall.

Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer’s raw pace and bounce can unsettle even the best batters. While he has occasionally been expensive, he has consistently provided breakthroughs at important junctures. Archer picked up 1/42 against Nepal and 1/48 versus West Indies, before producing his best spell of 2/24 against Scotland and 2/35 against Italy.

In the Super Eight stage, he elevated his performance, taking 2/20 against Sri Lanka and 2/32 against Pakistan. Though he went wicketless in the final Super Eight match, he conceded only 24 runs, maintaining control. On Wankhede surface, Archer’s pace and variations could trouble India’s top order.
