Shimron Hetmyer played a small but crucial cameo in the important T20 World Cup clash between England and the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday, February 11.
The in-form left-handed batter helped the Caribbean side rebuild after they lost both openers inside the first two overs. During his knock of 23 off 12 balls, Hetmyer slammed two fours and as many sixes. However, the six he hit off Sam Curran in the fourth over of the match turned out to be one of the highlights of the first innings.
Curran bowled a very slow delivery, which pitched right in the slot. Hetmyer, who was outfoxed by a similar delivery off the previous ball, waited for ages for it to arrive and executed a brilliant slogsweep. The ball went sailing over the mid-wicket boundary for a massive six.
Take a look at the video below:
After Hetmyer was dismissed, Sherfane Rutherford stitched half-century partnerships with Rovman Powell and Jason Holder to help the West Indies finish on 196/6. Rutherford remained unbeaten on 76 off 42 balls, hitting two fours and seven sixes.
