India Under-19 captain Ayush Mhatre received a grand welcome in his hometown Virar, Mumbai, following the team’s historic triumph at the Under-19 World Cup. Large crowds gathered on the streets to celebrate the young skipper’s achievement, applauding his leadership and contribution to India’s successful campaign.

Mhatre was taken through the streets in a rooftop car procession, with fireworks lighting up the area as fans showered him with flowers. His family, friends, and supporters joined the celebrations, turning the moment into a memorable homecoming for the top-order batter after India lifted the title for the sixth time in history.

With this victory, Mhatre joined an elite list of Indian captains to win the Under-19 World Cup, following Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, Prithvi Shaw, and Yash Dhull. He played a crucial role in the final, scoring 53 runs off 51 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of 103.92.

Overall, Mhatre scored 214 runs in seven matches during the tournament at an average of 30.57 and a strike rate of 113.22, registering three half-centuries. India topped their group in the Super Six stage with four wins from four matches before defeating Afghanistan Under-19 in the semifinal with a dominant performance.

Earlier, the Indian Under-19 team also received a warm welcome at the Mumbai airport after defeating England Under-19 in the final. A huge crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the young champions, cheering continuously as the players arrived. Mhatre was presented with a bouquet of flowers, while the team was escorted by security and officials.

In the final, India posted a massive 411/9, led by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s stunning 175 off 80 balls, which included 15 fours and 15 sixes, at a strike rate of 218.75. England Under-19 were then bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs. RS Ambrish picked up three wickets, while Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chouhan claimed two wickets each.
