OTD Ravindra Jadeja was born in 1988

Ravindra Jadeja was born on December 6, 1988, at Navagam-Khed in Saurashtra. He was the vice-captain of the Indian Under-19 team that won the 2007 Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Jadeja also played the 2006 Under-19 World Cup, where India lost the final.

Jadeja made his ODI and T20I debut in February 2009 in an interval of two days against Sri Lanka. However, he had to wait for three years to make his Test debut, which happened against England in December 2012.

He has played 89 Test matches for India so far and has made 4095 runs at an average of 38.27. He has scored six centuries and 28 half-centuries. Jadeja has picked up 348 wickets in Test matches at an average of 25.11. He has won 10 Player of the Match awards. No Indian player has won more Player of the Match awards at home than Jadeja.

In 206 ODI games, Jadeja has amassed 2862 runs at an average of 32.89 and a strike rate of 85.92. He has made 13 half-centuries in ODIs. He has taken 231 wickets in ODIs at an average of 35.87, an economy of 4.86, and a strike rate of 44.2. Jadeja was a part of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy this year.

In T20Is, Jadeja featured in 74 games and has scored 515 runs at an average of 21.45 and a strike rate of 127.16. He took 54 wickets in T20Is at an average of 29.85, an economy of 7.13, and a strike rate of 25.1. Jadeja retired from T20Is after India won the T20 World Cup in 2024.
