Yusuf Pathan was born on November 17, 1982, in Baroda, Gujarat. His T20I debut came in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup against Pakistan while he made his ODI debut against the same team on June 10, 2008.

Yusuf played a total of 57 ODIs and amassed 810 runs at a strike rate of 113.60. He hit two centuries and three half-centuries in the format. He played his last ODI on March 18, 2012, against Pakistan. He finished with the highest strike rate among the Indian batters who scored over 800 ODI runs. With the ball, he took 33 wickets at an average of 41.36, an economy of 5.49, and a strike rate of 45.1.

Yusuf featured in 22 T20I matches and finished with 236 runs at a strike rate of 146.58. In T20Is, Yusuf picked up 13 wickets at an average of 33.69.

1. 123* off 96 & 3/49 vs New Zealand (2010)

Yusuf delivered his best performance with both bat and ball against New Zealand in the fourth ODI of the five-match series in 2010. India elected to bowl after winning the toss. New Zealand made 315 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Yusuf took three wickets for 49 runs in nine overs and then made 123 runs off 96 deliveries to win the Player of the Match award.

2. 105 off 70 vs South Africa (2011)

Yusuf made his second and last century in ODIs against South Africa in 2011. It was the last ODI of the five-match series. South Africa scored 250 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Yusuf made 105 runs off 70 deliveries, but India lost the match by 33 runs by the DLS method. He was the second Indian batter to score a century while batting in number seven position at that time.

3. 40 (38) & 3/56 vs West Indies (2009)

In 2009, India went on a tour of the West Indies to play a four-match ODI series. In the first ODI, India elected to bat after winning the toss. Yuvraj Singh (131 runs off 102 deliveries) led India to a total of 339 runs for the loss of six wickets. Yusuf remained unbeaten on 40 runs off 38 deliveries. He picked up three wickets for 56 runs in eight overs.
