Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee played six seasons of the Indian Premier League during the business end of a storied cricketing career. He represented KXIP (now PBKS) and KKR for three seasons each. Lee picked up a total of 25 wickets in 38 matches at a reasonable economy rate of 7.50. As the iconic quick turns 49, let us revisit three of his best IPL performances.
1) 3/15 in 4 overs vs DD (now DC) in IPL 2009

A faint edge through to the wicketkeeper meant Lee sent back Virender Sehwag for a cheap score on the fourth delivery of the third over. He conceded only 12 runs in the couple of overs bowled inside the powerplay.
Lee returned to bowl the 17th and 19th overs of the innings. He conceded a meagre three runs while accounting for the wickets of Farveez Maharoof and Rajat Bhatia on back-to-back balls across overs. KXIP won the match by six wickets and five balls to spare. Lee was awarded the Player of the Match award.
2) 0/8 in 4 overs vs CSK in IPL 2011

Although Lee did not pick up any wickets in his first three overs bowled in the powerplay, he operated with metronomic precision to concede only five runs against the likes of Michael Hussey, Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina.
He came back to bowl his final over in the 18th of the innings. Lee executed his plans to perfection to end up conceding only eight runs in his four-over spell. He bowled a whopping 17 dot balls through his spell. KKR got past in a rain-shortened encounter via the DLS method. Not Lee but Iqbal Abdulla’s 1/15 in four overs earned him the POTM award.
3) 2/26 in 4 overs vs KXIP in IPL 2012

Lee dismissed KXIP’s leading run-getter of the 2011 edition Paul Valthaty on the final ball of the third over of the match. Valthaty was caught behind of a quick shortish delivery. The Aussie picked up the wicket of his countryman Shaun Marsh on the final ball of his 14th over later in the match.
He had only conceded three runs in his final over up until the sixth ball which went away for a boundary. Nonetheless, Lee returned impressive figures with a total of 10 dot balls in his spell. KKR had no difficulty in chasing down the 125-run target. They won by eight wickets with skipper Gautam Gambhir starring with an unbeaten 66 off 44.
