Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma is ensuring that his preparation for the upcoming Australia tour is on point, training at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Friday, October 10. During his batting session, Rohit smashed shots all over the park, but one powerful hit ended up being an unfortunate mishap for himself.

The Indian opener, recently named in the Australia ODI squad for the three-match series, has also stepped down from the captaincy role, with Shubman Gill taking over as the team’s leader. In a moment of bad luck during practice, Rohit hit a six that went out of the park and struck his Lamborghini.

The videos of the training session quickly circulated online and went viral. Rohit was seen playing a wide variety of shots, including elegant cover drives and sweep shots, while hundreds of fans cheered him on. The session lasted for two hours before he made his way home, according to multiple reports across several media outlets.

Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar was present, assisting Rohit during the session. Mumbai batter Angkrish Raghuvanshu and several other local players also joined. Rohit’s wife, Ritika, was in attendance, and the star batter took some time to interact with fans at Shivaji Park, one of the most iconic maidans of Mumbai.

Rohit to carry his experience in Australia

Even after stepping down as ODI captain, Rohit will continue to be a key member of the squad, expected to support Gill during the transition and maintain his aggressive approach at the top of the order. His preparation has included a focused fitness regime, with the star opener dropping significant weight to stay in form.

Additionally, reports suggest that Rohit, alongside Virat Kohli, will participate in domestic cricket in December and January, featuring in three to four Vijay Hazare Trophy matches ahead of the New Zealand ODI series. Experts believe this domestic exposure will help both players maintain match readiness for national duties.

Rohit’s dedication and disciplined preparation underline his commitment to staying competitive and contributing to the Indian team despite stepping down from leadership.
