Irani Cup 2025 is all set to get underway on October 1. The reigning Ranji Trophy champions, Vidarbha (VID), will take on the Rest of India (ROI) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur. The one-off five-day contest promises to be a riveting affair between two quality sides.

Under the leadership of Akshay Wadkar, Vidarbha emerged triumphant in the premier domestic season. They ended as table-toppers of Group B with six wins in seven matches before defeating the likes of Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, and Kerala in the quarter-final, semi-final and final, respectively. Yash Rathod (960 runs in 18 innings) and Harsh Dubey (69 wickets in 19 innings) emerged as the leading run-getter and wicket-taker, respectively.

The RoI side will be led by skipper Rajat Patidar, who recently captained Central Zone to their Duleep Trophy win. The ace cricketer starred for his side with the bat, striking two tons and as many fifties in five innings. Ruturaj Gaikwad, on the other hand, has been named as his deputy. Ishan Kishan, Khaleel Ahmed and Akash Deep are some others in what looks like a strong side on paper.
